Do you require background checks for your tutors?
Yes. We do an extensive screening on all of our
tutors. This includes a criminal background check,
reference check, and a comprehensive interview.
Is my child required to complete a costly
“pre-assessment”?
No. We do not require your child to complete a costly
assessment in order to receive our tutoring services.
Our informal assessment process begins with the
In-Home Consultation and is ongoing throughout the
tutoring process. Our tutors will also contact your
child’s teacher if you would like. A Release of
Information Agreement must be completed and returned
prior to our initial contact with your child’s
teacher.
What are the qualifications of your tutors?
Our tutors are certified teachers or individuals who
have at least two years of tutoring experience.
Examples include current classroom teachers,
substitute teachers, individuals with tutoring
experience and retired teachers.
What if the tutor is not a good match for my child?
The purpose of our Free, In-Home, No Obligation

personality and academic learning style. Exceed
Tutoring guarantees satisfaction when matching our

a new tutor, you or your child feel that the tutor is
not the ideal match, there will be no charge for that
session and another tutor will be selected to meet
your child’s needs.
Do you offer tutoring services to children with special needs?
Yes. We have tutors who are qualified to work with
children who have special needs. If you have a child
with an Individual Educational Pans (IEP) or 504 plan

Education Endorsement on their Teaching License.
These teachers are specialized in teaching students
with special needs as well as being qualified to
interpret and evaluate IEP’s and the IEP process.
What is your tutor to student ratio?
We are exclusively a one-on-one tutoring service.

levels i.e. elementary school curriculum.

if necessary?
Yes. The initial consultation must take place at the
location our services will be provided to your child.

library, coffee shop, etc. Guardians must be at least
21 years of age.
When are your tutors available for tutoring?
We schedule our tutoring sessions seven (7) days a
week at your convenience. We work around your
schedule.

allows us to reinforce the concepts that your child
is currently focusing on. Tutors may provide
additional curriculum to help support your child’s
learning if necessary.

initial contact with the teacher. This helps ensure
confidentiality.
Do you offer Standardized Test Preparation?
Yes. Exceed Tutoring offers test preparation services
for the SAT and ACT. We recommend that you schedule
this well in advance of the scheduled testing date.
We also recommend scheduling at least two hours per
week with a tutor for test preparation; however, this
is only a recommendation, not a requirement. The
student is required to provide a test specific (SAT
or ACT) preparation manual. These are available at
book stores and online.
Do you offer additional services for Home School
parents?
Yes. We offer an additional lesson planning and
curriculum alignment service. We work with parents to
develop a year long plan and/or weekly lesson plan in
conjunction with the curriculum chosen and provided
by the parents. Our efforts are focused on the Oregon
State Benchmark Standards for your child’s specific
grade and/or ability level. We do not provide
curriculum or offer services in curriculum
selection.
